This is your reminder

To drink your water, walk around the block and take a break.

Trust me.

I started writing this post as my feet dangled off the lounge chair of our stay on the beachfront of Costa Rica.

I booked the flight about three weeks ago, unsure if I really needed a break. As it turns out, you don't have to be on the verge of a mental breakdown or a generally overworked wreck to hit the pause button and feel the soothing effect of barely existing on this wonderful planet. Unless you're caught up in planning your daily activities, choosing your restaurants and deciding where to stay next, there's a lot of downtime that comes with a trip. Honestly, these puffer zones have become my secret favourite.

It's funny how we use the expression 'time to kill', when all the magic lies in those small moments that aren't numbed by external distractions. Like waking up in the morning, floating in the water with just your head above the surface, or coming home after a busy day, giving your mind and body a moment to take it all in and feel a tingling sensation in your limbs. It's in these moments that we allow our minds to wander and, ironically, become more present.

It never ceases to amaze me how much perspective I gain just by relocating my ass every once in a while, making me ponder what life is really about and how little it takes to experience a sense of ease and relaxation. It’s that feeling that helps me nourish my soul when I’m back in my routine, reminding me that life is simple, it’s meant to be enjoyed and how little is needed to appreciate it.

Just like the glass of water we drink to start the day, taking a break should be taken more seriously. It's an integral part of our lives, not an emergency escape when all else fails to keep us afloat. Sometimes it's there to remind us how simply we're wired and how little it takes to access that feeling of ease - anytime, anywhere.

Ant that’s that. Message delivered. :)

Enjoy your break. <3
